چکیده

In this study, we described age structure, body size, mass and the relationships among these parameters for a population of P. caucasicus from Lake Borçka Karagöl, Artvin, Turkey. The mean SVL with standard error was 45.87 mm ± 0.55 (range: 39.98-50.28 mm) weight 8.81 g 0.39 6.10-11.47 g) in females whereas 48.16 0.45 43.64-54.78 11.32 0.25 9.56-14.80 males, respectively. We found significant male-biased difference reflecting sexual dimorphism statistically positive between variables. According to results, ranged 2-5 years 2-6 males. distributions significantly differed sexes (females: 3.28 0.19; males: 3.94 0.20). ages maximal were identical previously reported results Turkey, but higher than Georgian populations. Von Bertalanffy growth models demonstrated similar curves, rate faster up 3 both sexes. To conclude, study first determine structure patterns Karagöl data presented time literature.

Development of eight microsatellite markers in the parsley frog (Pelodytes punctatus).

We characterized eight microsatellite loci to study spatial and temporal population structure of Pelodytes punctatus, a European anuran that has a peculiar breeding pattern among amphibians. The eight loci proved to be highly polymorphic with the number of alleles per locus ranging from two to 15 within two populations. Cross-amplification indicates that those markers may be also useful for clo...

Helminths of the two mountain frogs, banded frog, Rana camerani Boulenger, 1886 and Uludağ frog Rana macrocnemis Boulenger, 1885 (Anura: Ranidae), collected from the Antalya province.

In this study, two mountain frogs (Rana camerani and Rana macrocnemis) were collected in the Antalya Province in south-western Turkey during 2001 and 2002 and were examined for helminths. Out of 15 Rana camerani, 10 (66.7%) were infected with 1 or more helminths and out of 20 Rana macrocnemis, 17 (85%) were infected with 1 or more helminths. The helminth fauna of Rana camerani included 4 specie...

Altitudinal variation in age and body size in Yunnan pond frog (Pelophylax pleuraden).

Large-scale systematic patterns of body size are a basic concern of evolutionary biology. Identifying body size variation along altitudinal gradients may help us to understand the evolution of life history of animals. In this study, we investigated altitudinal variation in body size, age and growth rate in Chinese endemic frog, Pelophylax pleuraden. Data sampled from five populations covering a...
